An Aria with Jayne Sleder and Katie Chung

Traverse City native Jayne Sleder, a world renowned dramatic mezzo-soprano and vocal coach, will present this special program on the aria.   

An aria in music was originally any expressive melody,. Today the term is used almost exclusively to describe a self-contained piece for one voice, with or without orchestral accompaniment.  An aria is normally part of a larger work.

Jayne's presentation will feature soprano, Katie Chung who will perform three arias by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini who was born in Lucca, Tuscany.

Aria in Italian means air the plural is arie, or arias in common usage, which is the diminutive form of arietta).
